This year saw the second photography competition run by the African Palliative Care Association with support from True Colours.

The competition sought to visually showcase what quality palliative care for adults and children looks like across diverse African contexts. Individuals and organisations involved in palliative care were invited to submit photographs showing what excellent care looks like in their context.

Sixty-one entries were received this year, from which five winning photographs were selected by a panel of judges.

The winners were:

1st Place

Hope Tayebwa and Brian Amanya – Kawempe HomeCare, Uganda  

2nd Place

Jorge Carlos – Comboni College of Science& Technology, Sudan

3rd Place

Patience Kukundakwe – Mildmay Uganda  

4th Place

Dara Vanden Bosch – Mvura Ya Upenhu CuidadosPaliativos, Mozambique

5th Place

Esther Dina Bell – Volunteers for PalliativeCare (VOPACA) Cameroon
