The True Colours Chair

In 2023, following Professor Bluebond-Langner’s retirement, Professor Ulrika Kreicbergs was appointed Chair. We are delighted that, GOS ICH has now made this a permanent post, cementing research into children’s palliative care as an integral part of children’s healthcare.

Professor Kreicbergs will be the academic lead at the Louis Dundas Centre – a centre of excellence in research, teaching and clinical practice in palliative care for children and young people at GOS ICH and the name of the post has been changed from the True Colours Chair to the Louis Dundas Chair.

The appointment of Professor Kreicbergs, as the Louis Dundas Chair is the realisation of our original aims. We are delighted that the baton for academic leadership in children’s palliative care in the UK has been passed on successfully.

Professor Kreicbergs’ vision is:

"To lead and develop a research team, with strong links to everyday clinical work, focused on improving paediatric palliative care by exploring gaps in knowledge… to mitigate suffering of all involved."

In partnership with GOSH Charity, we are now supporting Professor Kreicbergs’ research programme for the next five years as part of our ongoing commitment to improve the evidence base for children’s palliative care and develop the next generation of researchers.

We look forward to seeing the success of the inaugural Chair replicated in other institutions in the UK and globally.
